Conversion of Bostan-Zhob track hit by paucity of funds

27 November 2009: Pakistan Railways (PR) is yet to start work on conversion of Bostan-Zhob railway track from narrow to broad-gauge due to lack of funds.

Paper work for the project has begun in 2006 to convert the narrow-gauge Bostan-Zhob railway track into broad-gauge. The conversion of the track will help PR attract more passengers and earn more-revenue to decrease the deficit of PR. It had planned to further extend the broad-gauge track to D.I. Khan, Bannu, Kohat ending at Peshawar but after the passage of three-years no practical steps has been taken so far to execute work on the project.
