Dual-fuel power plant to be set up in Gazipur

6 July 2010: Power Development Board (PDB) and Rural Power Company (RPC) will jointly set up a dual-fuel power plant at Kadda in Gazipur district in Dhaka.

As per a deal signed on 4 July 2010, both will invest a total of Euro 127.05 million to set up the plant having capacity of 150- 225 MW. Each of the two organizations will have 50 per cent equity in the shares of the project.

The PDB is a fully state-owned power generation entity while RPC is a company jointly owned by some rural electricity cooperatives known as Palli Bidyut Samitees (PBSs) and Rural Electrification Board (REB). PDB and RPC will start work soon to install the power plant with a target to complete the project by June 2012.
