Funds utilised for construction of farm-to-market roads

24 November 2009: Under Punjab Development Programme (PDP), the Pakistan Government is spending more than Rs 300 crore during fiscal year on the construction of farm-to-market roads, health, water and provision of sanitation facilities as well as to ensure missing facilities in educational institutions in the province.

Special attention under the programme has been given on the construction of farm-to-market roads aimed at linking far off areas with their nearest mandi towns and tehsil headquarters.

Apart from this, the government was also mobilising more than Rs 850 crore on the improvement of water supply and drainage system in rural and urban areas of the Punjab. Out of this allocation 57 percent of the funds will be utilised in rural areas and 43 percent will be spent in urban areas.
