Indian aid to reconstruct ports and airfield in Northern Sri Lanka
5 February 2010: The Indian Government is likely to provide assistance to reconstruct the ports in the North and develop the Palaly airfield in Sri Lanka.
The Indian Government has already committed to infrastructure development in Northern Sri Lanka. India has already announced a line of credit of $ 425 million for the reconstruction of railway infrastructure in northern Sri Lanka.
In addition, India is also committed to assist in the rehabilitation of the ports and aviation sector in Sri Lanka to include the Kankasanthurai Port, the Point Pedro Harbour and the Palaly airfield.
