Kokavil transmission tower to commence operations soon
19 December 2009: Reconstruction of the television tower at Kokavil in Sri Lanka is on a fast track and the tower is likely to commence operations soon.
The 172-meter high transmission tower is being constructed at a cost of Rs 40 crore under the guidance of the "Uthuru Wasanthaya" Task Force.
Once completed, the tower is expected to cater to the communication needs of the people in the Northern region to receive TV transmissions and also telephone facilities. It will be a common telecommunication broadcasting tower and will be shared by telecommunication operators and broadcasters.
