Nestle commissions malted drink plant in Sri Lanka
7 April 2011: Nestle Lanka, a unit of Switzerland based Nestle has commissioned malted drinks plant which had cost Rs 56 crore at its manufacturing complex in Kurunegala in central Sri Lanka. In 2010 the firm had invested Rs 100 crore in dairy development and expansion of the Kurunegala factory complex. In 2011 the Nestle will double investment to Rs 200 crore, which will be part of a Rs 1,000 crore planned investment in the next few years. About a third of the money will go into dairy development and dairy based products.
