Netherland aid for hospital projects in Sri Lanka

20 January 2011: The Sri Lanka Government has identified several key projects to implement with the concessionary financial assistance pledged by Netherlands Government through the Rabobank International of the Netherlands.

Under the initiative, the government will develop the Hambantota and Nuwara Eliya district hospitals with financial assistance of Euro 86.49 million from the Netherlands.

The Sri Lanka Government has approved a proposal submitted by the Minister of Health, Maithripala Sirisena to award the contract to a construction company in the Netherlands for a total cost of Euro 86.49 million. The contract, as already planned and designed, include construction of required buildings, supply of necessary medical and other equipment, installation, training etc.
