New projects awarded to NESPAK
4 December 2009: National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) has been awarded 31 new projects of worth Rs 550 crore at home and abroad during the last four months.
According to sources, 28 projects have been awarded in Pakistan and 3 projects in Saudi Arabia and Qatar after a tough international competition.
Two foreign projects, which NESPAK has bagged in Saudi Arabia, were related to water supply from different storage dams to Makkah Al-Mukarramah region. The third overseas project awarded to NESPAK by Qatar Olympic Committee was relating to the construction of three sports complexes.
The 28 new projects awarded to NESPAK in recent months were the Rehabilitation of Irrigation System throughout Punjab, Prime Minister's Southern Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Schemes in Multan costing Rs 282 crore, detailed design and construction and supervision of Sports Complex at Narowal costing Rs 60 crore, West Bank Bypass project at Muzaffarabad (AJK), Punjab Roads Sector Development Project, Sita Dam Project in Sindh, Bara Dam project in NWFP, sewerage and draining scheme of Tajpura Lahore, Thermal Power Plants based on small gas fields of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto Cadet College at Khanpur in District Rahim Yar Kahan and National High Way Foundation Housing Scheme, Islamabad.
