PDB inks pact with Summit Power and KPCL
28 June 2010: Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) on 23 June 2010 signed agreements with Summit Power and KPCL (Khulna Power Company) to supply 217 MW to the national grid within next 120 days.
According to the agreement, Summit Power will install a 102 MW power plant at Madanganj and KPCL will install a 115 MW plant in Khulna. Both the plants will be run by furnace oil under the government's quick rental power project.
Earlier, the purchase committee sent back the proposals of the Summit and the KPCL observing that the offered price of electricity was high. However, the Summit has proposed Taka 7.93 per unit price.
The committee also sent back the Power Division's proposal to the KPCL, a sister concern of the Summit Group on same ground.
