Pakistan to buy power from Iran
28 June 2011: Pakistan and Iran have signed an MoU under which Iran will sell Pakistan 1700 MW of power at reduced rates. Iran is also willing to extend more cooperation to overcome energy crisis in Pakistan.
Pakistan had been buying 35MW electricity from Iran to meet Makran area`s requirements. However, now that the demand had gone up, an agreement had been signed to get another 70 MW.Another agreement has been signed to get 100MW power for Gawadar port.
