Punatsangchhu-I hydroelectric project in Bhutan

September 12, 2008: Bhutan plans to develop 1200 MW Punatsangchhu-I hydroelectric power project in Wangdue Phodrang district, approx 240 km from Phuentsholing, the border of Bhutan. The estimated investment in this project is Rs.16,405 crore.

The project work includes construction of diversion tunnel, dam, construction of headrace tunnel, surge shaft, pressure shafts, power house etc. The project will take about 5 years for completion
