Royal Ceramics plans tile plant

13 June 2011: Sri Lanka based Royal Ceramics a tile manufacturer is likely to set up a tile manufacturing plant at Kiriwaththuduwa, Homagama south of Colombo.

The plant is to come up at a cost of Rs 300 crore. The project is to be partly funded through debt and internally generated cash. The company owns a 33-acre land through subsidiary Rocell Ceramics, which had been earmarked for a new floor tile plant to meet expansion requirements. Work on the plant is likely to begin soon. The company has already contracted overseas companies to supply the machinery. The plant with a 12,000 sq mtrs per day capacity is expected to be ready by December 2013.

The company has a semi-automated production facility in Eheliyagoda with a capacity of 4,000 sq mtrs per day and a fully-automated plant in Horana with a daily capacity of 7,500 sq mtrs.
