Shell deal by end-July
13 July 2010: The Sri Lanka Government is likely to finalise the acquisition of Shell Gas Lanka by end-July 2010.
The government holds a 49 percent stake in Shell Gas Lanka and plans to buy-back the 51 percent stake held by Shell. With the acquisition of controlling shares of this company, Sri Lanka will be able to purchase gas in the global market at competitive prices and sell to consumers at economical rates.
