Singapore co to invest in Mongla port

4 December 2009: Singapore based David Wignal Associates is planning to invest Taka 21,000 crore for full-fledged development of the Mongla Port.

An MoU has been signed at the conference room of the Shipping Ministry between the Mongla Port Authority and the David Wignal Associates on 3 December 2009.

The investment will help make the Mongla Port as a full-fledged international standard port through its overall development within next 20 years.

On completion, the port is likely to play an important role in improving the economy of the Bangladesh's southwestern region. The port will also play an important role particularly through cargo transportation from the countries of the region including India, Nepal and Bhutan which would increase revenue earning.
