Slow pace of work on Lyari Expressway
24 November 2009: The Senate Standing Committee on Communications, Pakistan, has expressed concerns over the slow pace of work on Lyari Expressway. The committee has directed the concerned authorities to expedite work to ensure early completion of the project.
This apart, the committee also directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to engage local contractors to complete Turbat-Hushab road, as the non-local contractors have expressed their inability to carryout work due to the deteriorating law and order situation in the province.
Earlier, the Committee was given a detailed briefing on various on-going projects of the NHA. It also informed the Committee about the steps taken for the construction of various roads alongwith Turbat-Hushab Road in Balochistan. The Committee assured its all out support to the NHA and the ministry in resolving the issues, which are disrupting the work.
