Small projects approved
13 July 2010: Small Development Programme (SDP) committee, Bhutan, has approved some 641 small projects of genuine needs to the people from all 20 dzongkhags worth Nu 2.248 billion. SDP is India’s Nu 7 billion programme grant for the 10th five-year plan aimed at improving the rural livelihood.
This takes the total number of projects under SDP to 1,082. All the 641 proposals have been approved by the committee comprising representatives from the foreign ministry, the Indian embassy and GNH Commission (GNHC).
The projects include areas like farm roads, rural water supply scheme, irrigation channels, drinking water supply, construction of outreach clinics, toilets near BHUs, education centres, construction of administrative offices and community centres , bridges, culture, and RNR centres, among others.
