Small projects approved

13 July 2010: Small Development Pro­gramme (SDP) committee, Bhutan, has approved some 641 small projects of genuine needs to the people from all 20 dzongkhags worth Nu 2.248 billion. SDP is India’s Nu 7 billion programme grant for the 10th five-year plan aimed at improving the rural livelihood.

This takes the total number of projects under SDP to 1,082. All the 641 proposals have been approved by the commit­tee comprising representa­tives from the foreign ministry, the Indian embassy and GNH Commission (GNHC).

The projects include areas like farm roads, rural water supply scheme, irrigation channels, drinking water sup­ply, construction of outreach clinics, toilets near BHUs, edu­cation centres, construction of administrative offices and community centres , bridges, culture, and RNR centres, among others.
