Sri Lanka Army to set up a development and construction company
7 November 2011: Sri Lanka Army will establish a development and construction company. The company aims to assist the government to undertake the development work effectively at low cost.
The Army plans to use its peace time human resources in the company. It is to follow the tender procedure of the government when obtaining contracts. The company is to undertake infrastructure constructions such as highways, bridges, buildings, playgrounds, parks etc. and offer services in transport and agriculture. The Army has earned through the development it undertook following the end of the war in May 2009.
