Sri Lanka launched housing project for displaced families
3 September 2011: The Sri Lankan government initiated construction work to build a housing project for the displaced families in Northern Sri Lanka. The housing scheme implemented under the Jana Sevena housing programme will build 1,000 houses for newly resettled IDP families in the North.
The proposed project will come into phases the phase I of the project is to build 50 houses at Panichchankulam in Mullaitivu.The Housing and Common Amenities Ministry and the Resettlement Ministry have planned to build 200 houses per year in all five districts in the Northern Province.
