Sri Lanka launches Lotus Pond Art Theater gifted by China

16 December 2011: The new state-of-the-art theater, Lotus Pond Mahinda Rajapaksa Performance Arts Theatre in Colombo was declared open soon under the patronage of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Zhang Meiying, Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference of China.

The seven-storied open theater modeled after the Nelum Pokuna (Lotus Pond) in Polonnaruwa is a gift from China to fortify the friendly relationship between the two countries.
