Sri Lanka mulls youth parliamentary complex in Anuradhapura
24 February 2011: The Sri Lankan government has decided to build the national Youth Parliament complex in Thirappane area in Anuradhapura district. It will be constructed in the premises of Ethungama Training Center of the National Youth Services Council. A 58-acre land has been chosen for the proposed building site.
The Sri Lanka Youth Parliament is a youth led, youth run initiative, whose aim is to mobilize and create a network of young people to bring about positive and sustainable change to issues that affect youth and their communities in Sri Lanka. It provides skills and opportunities for youth to play a leadership role in identifying and addressing the needs of their own communities.
