Sri Lanka port commences Harthal Bridge widening project
3 August 2011: The Sri Lanka Ports Authority has commenced the work on widening Harthal Bridge on 1 August in Colombo port to ease traffic congestion within the harbour. The constructions will further facilitate the increased flow of container transportation in and out of the port.
Roads are also being widened to cater to the increasing flow of vehicles, mostly container trucks, flocking to the port for import and export cargo.
