Sri Lanka to conduct food outlets standardization programme
30 November 2011: Food Control Unit of Sri Lanka Ministry of Health has launched a three-day programme to standardize the food outlets in the country. Accordingly, the officials are to visit the food outlets across the country in three days beginning from today and categorize them.
The Ministry has specified four standards to be assigned to the restaurants as 'A','B', 'C' and 'D'. 'A' type is considered as the best places of cooking and serving food while the D grade will be considered as most unhygienic. Restaurant with a 'D' grade will have to uplift their standards immediately to carry on business.
