Sri Lanka to rebuild places of worship

29 June 2010: The Sri Lanka Government is currently engaged in rebuilding the religious institutions in the war-torn Kilinochchi District.

There are currently one Buddhist temple, four churches, 60 Hindu kovils and three mosques functioning in the Kilinochchi District. The government is looking at rebuilding all these places of worship and have already provided financial assistance to the institutions that are currently functional in the District. The development programme in the Kilinochchi District is being carried out under the supervision of UPFA parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
