Sri Lanka unveils Hambanthota Stadium

22 February 2011: The newly built Hambanthota Sooriyawewa International Cricket Stadium in the deep south of Sri Lanka is likely to be inaugurated soon.

Sri Lanka and Canada have played the inaugural match at the stadium as a World Cup first round match. Sooriyawewa International Cricket Stadium is equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities such as modern lighting system, score boards, and a pavilion. The stadium has facilities for 35,000 spectators.
