Sri Lanka, India to exchange power
July 25, 2008: Sri Lankan Cabinet has approved a proposal submitted by the Minister of Power and Energy for a project to establish a bilateral power exchange between Sri Lanka and India.
The project plans to construct an India-Sri Lanka electricity transmission interconnection for power exchange via Dhanushkody Palk Strait, and Thalaimannar. the exchange of 1000 MW of power when completed will bring economic benefits to both countries.
