WB grants funds for SL road development
July 19, 2008: The World Bank has approved a $98 million IDA credit to support SriLanka’s efforts to improve its national highways and lower transportation costs and cut journey times.
The project will help farmers transport their produce to markets on time, increase export competitiveness and accelerate export-led growth, and contribute to sustained economic development. So far, the project has improved 150 km of national roads and the project is expected to be completed by 2011.
