WB signs loan agreement with S L

July 22, 2008: World Bank and Sri Lankan government have signed a loan agreement of US$22.6 million for SL’s Public Sector Capacity Building Project aimed at enhancing the productivity of the Department of Census and Statistics and the Auditor General's Department.

The objective of the Public Sector Capacity Building Project is to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of two key public sector agencies by organizational strengthening, capacity building, information management, communication improvements, physical and information technology infrastructure, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) support.

The total project cost is US$26.10 million, of which the World Bank contribution is US$22.60 million, while the Government is contributing US$3.50 million.
