Work on Sri Lanka's potable water reservoir to commence

21 January 2011: The improvement work on the project to improve Sri Lanka's main reservoir supplying potable water to the capital Colombo and suburban areas is to commence today with the participation of a Hungarian delegation. Improvement work on the 125-year-old Labugama water reservoir and treatment plant will be financed with Hungarian aid.

The Government of Sri Lanka is spending a large amount of money to supply clean water to the people because provision of pure and safe drinking water is a prime duty and a responsibility of the government. The government is also taking initiative to promote tourism and cultural relations between Sri Lanka and Hungary to improve the bilateral cooperation between the two countries
