Several FOBs planned for commuters of Mumbai
In a view to ease commuters life and to reduce movement of passengers especially during peak hours various nodal agencies have undertaken a plan to construct several additional foot over bridge (FOBs) at various locations in the city of Mumbai.
Various FOBs near the exit and entry points have been suggested in and around Mumbai by a team of Western Railway officials which conducted an audit for developing such facilities.
The team recommended changes including construction of skywalk, subways, repairing railway platforms, setting up of additional CCTV cameras.
In this regards, Western Railways is planning to build 36 new FOBs in the next two years. Of the total, 14 old bridges will be replaced and 15 new bridges will be constructed and the Municipal Corporation will build seven additional bridges.
Other than this, Central Railway also conducted a safety audit where a list of changes were recommended.
As per Projects Today, a total of 21 FOBs with an investment of around Rs 84 crore are either in planning or under construction by various government agencies including Central Railway, Western Railway, Municipal Corpn. of Greater Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corpn., etc.
