Andhra Pradesh under the States’ reorganisation scheme was formed on 1st November,
1956. It is the fourth largest state in India by area and fifth largest by population.
It has the longest coastline (972km) in India and is gifted by a variety of physiographic
features like high hills and surging plains. Being the largest producer of rice
in the country it is considered to be the rice bowl of India. It is also the leading
producer of cash crops like Tobacco, Groundnut, Chillies, Turmeric, Oilseeds, Cotton,
Sugar and Jute. It produces some of the finest varieties of mangoes, grapes, guavas,
sapotas, papayas and bananas, it is an agriculturally-prosperous state. Telgu is
the widely spoken all over Andhra Pradesh.
Project Investments in Andhra Pradesh
According to the 42nd Quarterly Survey of Projects Investment conducted by ProjectsToday,
as of 31 March 2011, the state had 3,471 projects worth Rs
596,051 crore in
various stages of planning and implementation.
The project implementation ratio observed for the state was 56.93 per cent, as compared to the national average of 46.17 per cent.
