Chandigarh was built in 1953 and since then serves as the capital Punjab and Haryana. Being administered by the Central Government it classifies as an Union Territory. There has been much talk about officially handing it to Punjab on the basis of demography, however the issue still remains a matter of political debate.

Projects Investment in Chandigarh

According to the 42nd Quarterly Survey of Projects Investment conducted by Projects Today, as of 31 March 2011, the state had 124 projects worth Rs 3,298 crore in various stages of planning and implementation.

The projects implementation ratio was 14.09 per cent, as compared to the national average of 46.17 per cent.
