Haryana was separated from old Punjab on 1 November 1966. It occupies around 1.4
per cent of the country’s area but houses around 2 per cent of the population.
As a result, it has a very high population density of 477 persons per sq.km. as
against the national average of 324 persons per sq.km.
Haryana is one of the better industrialised states in India with a sound manufacturing
base. The parts state that are in close proximity to Delhi are particularly well
developed in industries.
Projects Investment in Haryana
According to the 42nd Quarterly Survey of Projects Investment conducted by Projects
Today, as of 31 March 2011, the state had 1,464 projects worth Rs
133,429 crore
in various stages of planning and implementation. However the state exhibited a
projects implementation ratio of 46.11 per cent, as compared to the national
average of 46.17 per cent.
