Himachal Pradesh, situated at the foot of the Himalayas is a picturesque state with
abundant water resources. The state is almost entirely mountainous with altitudes
ranging from 460 to 6600 metres above sea level. Agriculture and tourism drive the
economy of the state.
Project Investments in Himachal Pradesh
According to the 42nd Quarterly Survey of Projects Investment conducted by Projects
Today, as of 31 March 2011, the state had 498 projects worth Rs
67,288 crore
in various stages of planning and implementation. The state had
projects implementation ratio of 62.74 per cent, as against the national average
ratio of 46.17 per cent.
The HP government has taken steps to exploit the hydro-electric potential of the
state. As a result, most of the investment proposed in the state is in hydel power
projects.
