The Union Territory of Puducherry is made up of 4 islands entrenched in Tamil Nadu,
Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. It consists of our separate geographical areas, viz.
Puducherry and Karaikal near Tamil Nadu, Mahe in Kerala and Yanam in Andhra Pradesh.
While Puducherry is the territorial headquarter, Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam are the
regional headquarters of the respective regions. Karaikal is situated about 16 km
north of Nagappattinam and Yanam about 870 km northeast of Puducherry on the eastern
coast of the Indian Peninsula. Mahe is almost parallel to Puducherry, situated
647 Km away on the West Coast.
Projects Investment in Puducherry
According to the 42nd Quarterly Survey of Projects Investments conducted by ProjectsToday, as of 31 March 2011, the Union Territory had 116 projects worth Rs 4,828 crore in various stages of implementation.
The project implementation ratio was 14.42 per cent, as compared to the national average of 46.17 per cent.
