Uttaranchal, earlier a part of Uttar Pradesh, came into existence on November 9,
2000. The new state however, has gained from lower population. It lies on the south
slope of the mighty Himalayan range. The tourism industry is a major contributor
to the economy of the state.
Projects Investment in Uttarakhand
According to the 42nd Quarterly Survey of Projects Investments conducted by ProjectsToday, as of 31
March 2011, the outstanding projects investment was Rs.43,281 crore in
588 projects.
The project implementation ratio observed for the state was at 43.67 per cent, compared with the national average of 46.17 per cent.
