Tata Steel gets UK nod for coal mining

May 3, 2008: Tata Steel has obtained the first ever license to mine in the UK as part of a plan to produce its own raw material. Tata's Corus Group Plc unit will explore and may develop an underground mine at Margam.

The company, which has a steel mill in Wales at Port Talbot, might invest in iron-ore assets.
