ATMA plans garment training institute

May 09, 2008: Ahmedabad Textile Mills Association (ATMA) has embarked on an ambitious plan to set up garment training institute in the city.

A non-profit organization of the larger units of the textile industry of the organized sector situated in and around Ahmedabad, ATMA has begun scouting for land for the upcoming institute. The institute, to be set up in an area of over 10,000 square meter, will be offering 'on-the-job' training in weaving and knitting.

ATMA may finalise KSA Technopak, a global management consulting firm, for conducting a feasibility study of the project and also to design the institute, after the land acquisition is in place.

Similarly, textile conglomerate Chiripal Group is also setting up a garment training institute at its upcoming apparel park. Work on the training center, with a 30-seat capacity for garmenting, will begin by end-May 2008.
