Aksh to foray into services business

May 15, 2008: Aksh Optifibre Ltd, manufacturer and exporter of optical fibre cables and FRP rods, is foraying into services business this year with the launch of its various entertainment and utility services on the IPTV and VoIP platforms.

Aksh is investing close to $37 million in its services business on IPTV and VoIP platforms. It is also investing close to $8 million to expand its production capacity of optical fibre cable and FRP rods by 20-50 per cent. Aksh currently has two plants at Bhiwadi and one at Jatpura, Rajasthan.

Currently, Aksh has a seven years agreement with MTNL to provide IPTV broadband content services to MTNL subscribers in Delhi and Mumbai.

In services, the company plans to launch A-tube, a selective advertising service, and A-shop, a shopping service, on the IPTV platform for subscribers.

 The company will offer Bollywood and Hollywood content on IPTV platform as they have tied-up with Eros International and Shemaroo Entertainment for Bollywood content, and are talking to Sony, Disney and Warner Bros for Hollywood content.
