12 May, 2008: After setting the stage ready for the development of two dedicated freight corridors, ministry of railways has set its sight on another ambitious project: two new freight corridors.

Drawn on similar lines of highway projects linking east and west and north with south, the ministry plans for east-west corridor and the north-south corridor. It is learnt that RITES has already submitted its feasibility report on the project to the ministry.

The north-south corridor would run from Delhi to Chennai, while the east-west corridor would cover places falling between Howrah to Mumbai.
