UIPC to invite bids for 6 projects

May 14, 2008: The Uttarakhand Infrastructure Projects Company Ltd.(UIPC), a joint venture company between IL&FS and the state government, would soon re-start the process of inviting bids for six hydel projects. Out of the six projects, four are in Nayar Valley of Pauri district and two in Dehra Dun district.

These projects include 17 MW Nayar dam, 2 MW Santudhar-I, 2 MW Santudhar-II and 2.25 MW Biyali Gaon. All of these projects are on Nayar river, which is a tributary of the Ganga. Nayar is a perennial river with huge catchment area in the Valley. The two other projects in Dehra Dun include 1 MW Purkul and 0.2 MW Bijapur on the river Tons.

The biggest among the six is the Nayar Small Hydroelectric Project near Marora village in Pauri district with 3 turbines-generating units, each of 5.66 MW. Annual generation from the dam, which will be built with a cost of Rs.129.58 crore, is likely to touch 69.56 million Kwh. Santudhar-I dam is being proposed near Santudhar village and powerhouse will be built near Jwalpa Devi temple. The dam, which will be built at a cost of Rs.17.54 crore will have two turbines of 1 MW each. The annual power generation on an average will be 8.41 million Kwh.

Santudhar-II will be constructed at Malethi village with a total cost of Rs 19.99 crore. The annual generation from this dam will be 8.23 million Kwh. Biyali Gaon project has been proposed at Biyali village and will be built at a cost of Rs 19.48 crore. Annual generation from this dam will be 9.29 million Kwh.
