Meghalaya, is a small state in north-eastern India, sandwiched in the north by Assam and Bangladesh in the south. The Meghalaya subtropical forest ecoregion encompasses the state; its montane forests are distinct from the lowland tropical forests to the north and south.

Projects Investment

According to the 24th Quarterly Survey of Projects Investment conducted by Projects Today, as of 30 Sep 2006, Meghalaya had 44 projects worth Rs.2,241 crore in various stages of planning and implementation. The state saw its outstanding investment increase by 22.2 per cent. 

The state also saw implementation ratio of 41.5 per cent, slightly lower the national average of 44.0 per cent. Bulk of the investment was by the Central and State governments.
