Daman & Diu (D&D)
was part of the colonised rule of the Portuguese until December 19, 1961, when
it was incorporated into republic India along with Goa, however it was separated from Goa in 1987 when Goa attainted
statehood. The Union Territory lies on the edge of the southern borders of Gujarat, in
western India.
Project Investments
According to the 24th Quarterly Survey of Projects Investments conducted by
ProjectsToday, as of 30 September 2006, the Union Territory had 21 projects worth
Rs.316 crore in various stages of planning and implementation.
Of the total number of projects, it was
observed that the private sector had more investments than the public sector.
The latest project implementation ratio for the UT is
64.4 per cent, which was far higher than the national average of 44.0 per cent.
