Nagaland is one of the seven state in the north eastern region.
The mountainous state is rich in flora and fauna. Agriculture is the
important economic activity of this state. The state has a vast
Mineral resources reserves, Lime stone reserves accounts for 1,000
million tonnes. Among other resources available are Marble, Stones,
Natural Gas, Nickel, Cobalt, Chromium, Basalt, Chert, Dunite,
Serpentine, Spilite etc. Forest resources also available in
abundance.
Projects Investment
According to the 24th Quarterly Survey of Projects Investment conducted by
ProjectsToday, as of 30 September 2006, the state had 22 projects worth Rs.835 crore.
The difficult terrain and adverse weather conditions deter the private sector
to invest in the state. Hence, almost the entire projects investment is by the
government agencies, barring the 2 projects investment coming in from the private
sector.
The project implementation ratio observed for the state
was 24.1 per
cent, much lower than the national average of 44.0 per cent.
