ECONOMICS IN STEEL
SUL TMT bars can be defined as a new generation rebar with usable yield strength. As a result a T-beam floor built with SUL on the basis of either the working stress or limit state method as per IS:456:1978 leads to a considerable saving in steel, compared to other bars.
ADVANTAGES
Pure Steel - SUL TMT is made with pure steel. SUL TMT Fe500D and SUL TMT Fe550 are IS: 1786 certified. 100% processed through primary steel making route its Carbon level is very low. Moreover impurities like Sulphur and Phosphorus are low.
Strong Bonding - An inseparable bonding takes place between a SUL TMT bar and its surrounding concrete. This is due to the specially designed rib pattern of SUL TMT bars, which are cut by automated milling machines to ensure a high precision uniformity.
Easy Bends - The tough outer surface and the soft core of SUL TMT makes the rebar bendable and ideal for construction. The minimum specification of IS: 1786 for bending around mandrels has been surpassed, with the bar bending around much smaller mandrels – an unbeatable advantage at construction sites.
Welding strength - SUL TMT bars have a low Carbon content which give it superior weldability. No pre warming and post welding is required in manual arc welding.
Rust Resistance - SUL TMT has superior corrosion resistance characteristics as they are produced through Thermo Mechanical Treatment.
Negative Tolerance - SUL TMT is guaranteed for not being heavy and comes with a section weight that is lower than the normal.
Earthquake Resistant - In a series of tests, concrete beam column joints, reinforced with SUL TMT, were subjected to repeated reverse loading with inelastic strains. These simulation tests were conducted to evaluate their performance during an earthquake. The results showed a uniformly maintained ductility till failure due to uniform energy dissipation during each cycle.
High strength and ductility - An unparalleled combination that results in extreme safety of the structure.
Superior bending capability - A quality that makes the bars easy to work with because they can bend around the smallest of mandrels |
