Eco-clearance for two power projects

ProjectsToday: On January 2 this year the ministry of environment & forests cleared two power plants - Urban Energy Generations 2,000 mw gas- based combined cycle power project at Dronagiri, Navi Muonbaf SEZ, Raigarli district, Maharashtra, and West Bengal Power Development Corporation’s Bakr-eshwar thermal power plant, stage II, units 4&5 (2x210 mw), at Birbhum, West Bengal.

The Rs 5,902 crore Dronagirl project will come up on about 40 hectares of land and will consume around 11 mmscmd gas. According to company officials, the gas will be sourced from the spur line of the east-west pipeline. The power plant is part of the Reliance Industries’ proposed SEZ at the same location.

WBPDCS Bakreshwar is in an advanced stage of completion with unit IV scheduled for completion next month followed by unit V in March 2008.
