JAIGAD PORT: Breakwater to complete by 2009

ProjectsToday: Breakwater works at Jaigad Port in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra is under way and is expected to complete by January 2009. Mumbai-based Chowgule Steamship has secured the contract from Maharashtra Maritime Board for developing the port on build, operate, own, share and transfer (BOOST) basis. The project is estimated to cost Rs 335 crore.

Chowgule Steamship will develop a dry dock facility with ship repair facility along with a small jetty. It will cater to the requirements of small vessels, including coastal vessels, offshore supply vessels and coastguard ships. Alter completion, Jaigad Port in Ratnagiri district is expected to handle four million tpa of cargo.
