selects contractors for irrigation project

The Madhya Pradesh government has finalised contractors for the development of irrigation and strengthening work of Handia branch canal. The entire project will be executed at a total cost of Rs 19.72 crore. Banco Construction of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, was awarded the contract for repair work of structures between 0 to 21 km (Rs 4.85 crore) while Lakhanlal Gupta of Jhansi was appointed for repair work of structures between 21 to 33 km and No.2 distributaries (Rs 3.24 crore). New Delhi-based Gopi Constructions' scope of work includes repair work of structures between 33 to 55.5 km and No.6 distributaries (Rs 4.74 crore).
The letters of intent to Banco Construction, Lakhanlal Gupta and Gopi Constructions is likely to be issued early this month.
The state government also appointed Vigya Shree Infrastructure, Bhopal, for the strengthening work of Harda Gondagaon and Charkhera distributory of Handia branch canal system with repair work of structures (Rs 3.98 crore). Earlier, Vigya Shree Infrastructure was awarded the contract for strengthening Ajani and Rundlai distributary of Handia branch canal system with repair work of structures at a cost of Rs 2.91 crore. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by December 2010.
