PEDA to set up biomass plants

ProjectsToday: Punjab Energy Development Agency plans to set up a 10-mw biomass-based power unit at Fazilka in Ferozepur district of Punjab. Meenakshi Group has been appointed as the consultant and civil contractor for the project. At present, the company is awaiting necessary approvals and clearances. The detailed project report is approved and work is likely to begin next month. The project, estimated to cost Rs 40 crore, is scheduled for completion by 2010. PEDA is also setting up a 31- mw biomass-based power unit at Sunam in Ferozepur district. Work on this project is expected to commence by June this year.
