Today Energy plans 1,200-mw plant

ProjectsToday: Today Energy, an SPV formed by Today Homes & Infrastructure, plans to set up a 1,200-mw coal-based power unit at Gotegaon in Narsimhapur district of Madhya Pradesh. The power plant will be implemented in two phases of 600 mw each and will be spread across 445 hectares of land. Company officials said land acquisition was underway. 

South Eastern Coalfields Ltd, Northern Coalfields Ltd and Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd, all under Coal India Ltd, are expected to supply around 6 million tpa of required coal for the power plant. The water requirement for the project has been estimated to be 3,900 cubic metres per hour and is likely to be sourced from Narmada river.

Madhya Pradesh faced a power shortage of 17.2 per cent during 2008-09 with availability estimated at 34,790 million kwh.
