Mega power plant by Corporate Power

Corporate Power, formerly known as Chitarpur Coal & Power, is setting up a 1,200-mw Matrishri Usha Jayaswal mega power plant at Hempur, Chandwa, in Latehar district of Jharkhand. The power project will be set up in two phases at a total cost of Rs 5,000 crore. Speaking on the project progress, company officials informed ProjectsToday that of the required 900 acres of land, 400 acres had been acquired. Financial closure for phase-I has been achieved and so far around 20 per cent work has been completed. The company is confident of completing phase-I (540 mw) by December 2009.

Financial closure of Korba plant

The 540 (4x135 mwj coal fired power unit of the Raipur based Vandana Vidhyut is likely to achieve financial closure by January 2008. The power plant coming up at Katogara in Korba district of Chhattisgarh entails an investment ol Rs 2,150 crore. At present, the company is in the process of land acquisition which is likely to be completed by March 2008. The project will spread over 645 acres ‘of land. The power project has already received techno -economic clearance; environmental and Central Electricity Authority clearances are expected by mid-February 2008. MN. HPSEB to appoint consultant for HEP

The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board, which is setting up a 3x134 mw Shongtong Karcham hydroelectric power project in Kinnaur district of the state, is expected to award consiiltancy contract by June 2008, Bids for the same were invited in September 2007. Work on the project is expected to cornmence by June 2009. Speaking to ProjectsToday company officials informed that the state electricity board also planned to invite bids by December 2008 for contractors for setting up a 66-mw Kashang hydel power project.

J&K Cement to start Khrew unit soon

Jammu & Kashmir Cement, a state government undertaking, is expected to commission a 600 tpd cement plant by April 2008. The project is located adjacent to the existing cement plant at Khrew in Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir. As of December 15, 2007, around 65 per cent work on the project was completed. Talking to ProjectsToday, the company officials also informed that apart from completing the above project, J&K Cement also plans to modernise its existing unit at Khrew in Phulwama and set up a 300 tpd capacity grinding unit at Samba in Jammu.
